Evolution Revolution

Although no one has ever been able to prove Darwin’s theory of evolution to a positive and decisive conclusion, the word evolution has been given a bad rap over the years. Stand back for a moment and one will see that mankind has been involved in a world wide evolution revolution for centuries. There’s not a day passes but millions of people have changed their life by incorporating some sort of new development invented to make life easier or more exciting. If you’re fifty plus years of age, you’ve witnessed a dramatic change in architecture, modes of transportation, and a definite change in communication all having brought huge changes to your way of life. Planes, trains and automobiles; telephones and televisions; medicines and health care; nutrition and the lack there of; politics and work ethics; neighborhoods and families; faith and beliefs are all evolving into something different, even to the point of being the opposite of what they were at the beginning of the twentieth century. I read an article, not long ago, about the “new world of credit”. One of the thoughts that struck me funny was the fact that credit rating firms consider people “deadbeats” if they’re not in debt up to their eyeballs and living from payday to payday exhausting every dime on payments toward “things”. To me, a “deadbeat” is a person who owes everybody in the world and isn’t making any payments. Not anymore, evidently. You are now a “deadbeat” if you’re not making interest payments to someone, essentially sending someone else’s kid to college. Change is good, but I think we’re leaving something important behind.
A man left his car running as he dashed into a convenience store for just a second. When he ran back out of the store he found his car was gone. He felt so stupid for doing what he did. Police and insurance were notified and the man walked home. Upon his arrival, he found his car parked in the driveway. While inspecting it he found a pair of Cowboy’s football tickets and a note which read, “Please forgive me. I had an emergency and I borrowed your car. You’ll find the gas tank is full and please accept these tickets as payment for your distress.” Police and insurance were notified once again and all was forgiven in the man’s heart. He and his wife went to the game and enjoyed the great seats. Upon arrival back home they discovered their house had been thoroughly gone through and burglarized of all their valuables. The thief wasn’t after the car; only the keys to the house, which he made a copy of for use during the game.
[2 Corinthians 5: 1-10] I today am very skeptical of the way the thoughts and ideals of religion and mankind’s relationship with the Creator are evolving. There is a story about some scientists that came to the conclusion man no longer needed God and challenged God’s creativity. Advancements had brought science to the point of being able to make a man from the “dust of the earth”, just like God. God accepted the challenge and asked the scientist’s to proceed. One bent toward the ground and with a scoop retrieved some dirt for their procedure. God immediately jumped in and said, “Wait just a minute! First of all, get your own dirt!” So who is it that is deciding we can get off the train any time we want so we can evolve into our own god? Likewise the world is creeping into worship, gratifying the “worshipper” to the extinction of giving thanks to God and remembering all He has done for each and every one of us. Man’s evolution revolution with God will eventually spell eternal destruction for most.
